Skimming Stones was established by Tony and Yen in 2012 as a design label who make homewares and accessories for the modern world. They are dedicated to creating design-led products that are unique, meaningful and with permanence.
Named after the naturalist and botanist Sir Joseph Banks, Banksia is a genus of plants commonly found in certain regions of Australia. Defined by their ‘heads’ of tightly packed flowers, Banksia are rich in nectar and form a fundamental food source for native animals. Adapted to the harsh Australian climate, Banksia benefit from regular bushfires.

In Japanese, mame originally means beans, that signifies tiny/small, zara means dish. The Mamezara plates have been admired in Japan, and due to the vast array of designs, these plates are especially popular with collectors.
