Primavera (spring) is one of the many bold floral designs by Maija Isola. It emanates joie de vivre, energy and warmth. Maija Isola painted the pattern when she was living in Oran, Algeria, so there may also be a tinge of homesickness in it, a yearning to be in Finland, to feel the summer-morning dew on the grass.
Acrylic-coated cotton makes minor messes easily wiped clean, but also allows it to be machine washable for more major spills. It feels coarser than untreated cotton, but still feels like fabric and not like vinyl of earlier placemats. Plus, the eco-friendly treatment helps to avoid wrinkling when folded!
Please note: These placemats are cut from Marimekko fabric with a long repeat, so each is one-of-a-kind. The pattern and colour on yours may vary from the one shown.
